VCI CORROSION PROTECTION

KEEP METAL RUST-FREE WITHOUT THE GREASE.

ZerustR VCI packaging releases clean, invisible corrosion inhibitors inside sealed bags, sheeting, and paper protecting ferrous and multimetal parts for up to 5 years in storage and transit. No coatings. No cleanup. Parts ship ready to use.

WHAT IS IT?

INVISIBLE PROTECTION, BUILT INTO THE BAG.

VCI stands for Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor. It’s a family of non-toxic compounds embedded directly into the polyethylene film, paper, or foam you already use to wrap and palletize parts. Once the package is closed, the inhibitor vaporizes and settles on every exposed metal surface – even inside blind holes, threads, and tight assemblies

When the package is opened, the vapor dissipates. There’s no film, no oil, and no residue to wipe off. The part is ready to install, paint, weld, or ship to the next stage

HOW IT WORKS

RELEASE. SATURATE. PROTECT.

Three-phase vapor action that keeps working as long as the package stays sealed.

RELEASE

The inhibitor is blended into the film or paper during manufacture. Once the package is closed, it begins to volatilize at room temperature, filling the enclosed air space with a low concentration of active vapor.

SATURATE

Vapor is drawn to exposed metal surfaces by polar attraction. It reaches into threads, crevices, blind holes, and internal cavities-places liquid coatings physically cannot.

PROTECT

A single-molecule-thick protective layer forms on every metal surface, interrupting the electrochemical reactions that cause rust. As vapor is consumed, the film releases more – continuously replenishing protection.

WHY USE VCI

WHY OPERATIONS TEAMS SWITCH TO ZERUST®.

NO OILS TO APPLY OR REMOVE

Eliminate rust-preventative dip tanks, solvent cleaning, and the labor hours tied up in coat-and- wipe cycles.

REACHES WHERE COATINGS CAN'T

Vapor protects blind holes, threads, gear teeth, and tight assemblies that liquid corrosion preventatives miss.

SHIPS READY TO USE

No cleaning or degreasing at the receiving end. Parts come out of the bag ready to install, weld, or paint.

5-YEAR PROTECTION

Long-term storage for spare parts, reserve stock, and overseas transit- as long as the package remains sealed.

NON-TOXIC & ROHS-COMPLIANT

Safe for operators and for sensitive end- use environments like medical, aerospace, and electronics.

DROP-IN REPLACEMENT

Uses the same flat bags, gusset bags, sheeting, and paper formats you already run – no equipment changes.

THE COST OF DOING NOTHING

3% of GDP

Corrosion is estimated to cost the U.S. economy roughly 3% of GDP each year. A significant portion of that bill gets paid on the receiving dock, in the warehouse, or on the assembly line – not at the foundry.

WHAT UNPROTECTED PARTS ACTUALLY COST YOU.

SCRAP & REWORK

Pitting, flash rust, and surface staining on parts that passed inspection at the supplier and failed at your receiving dock.

LINE-DOWN EVENTS

A single box of corroded fasteners or castings can stop an assembly line while replacements are sourced.

LABOR ON CLEANUP

Degreasing, blasting, and wire-wheeling parts that shouldn't have needed it - before they can go to paint or plating.

WARRANTY & FIELD FAILURE

Parts that look fine leaving the warehouse but fail early in service because oxidation started before they ever shipped.

INVENTORY WRITE-DOWNS

Spare parts and long-tail SKUs that become unusable after a humid summer in the rack.

TWO LINES, ONE SYSTEM

FERROUS OR MULTIMETAL-MATCH THE FORMULA TO THE PART.

Every ZerustR product ships in one of two chemistries. Both use the same form factors; only the inhibitor package differs.

YELLOW FILM-ICT® FERROUS

For iron and steel in all forms. The standard line for fasteners, stampings, castings, gears, tooling, and weldments.

GREEN/BLUE FILM - ICT® MULTIMETAL

Mixed-metal assemblies where a ferrous-only inhibitor would leave the non- ferrous components exposed.

COMMON QUESTIONS

FAQ

HOW LONG DOES VCI PROTECTION LAST?

Up to five years in sealed, undamaged packaging-long enough to cover spare-parts inventory, sea-freight shipments, and reserve stock. Once the package is opened the vapor dissipates within hours, which is exactly what you want before installation.

Parts should be clean and dry before sealing. VCI protects clean metal from future corrosion; it does not remove existing rust or displace contamination. For already-corroded parts, pair with AxxaCleanTM rust removers first.

Ferrous film (yellow) is formulated for iron and steel only. Multimetal film (green/blue) protects ferrous plus aluminum, copper, brass, zinc, and galvanized surfaces. For mixed- metal assemblies – anything with a non-ferrous component-use multimetal.

ZerustR inhibitors are non-toxic and RoHS-compliant. The film is safe for direct contact with food-contact surfaces (in appropriate grades), medical devices, and electronics. An SDS is available for every product.

Yes – in fact, this is one of the most common applications. A VCI liner, gusset bag, or sheet inside your existing steel rack, plastic tote, or corrugated container gives you corrosion protection without changing the handling system.
